The summer wasn’t as long and desolate as some of us expected! Here we go again.

I think I can speak on behalf of the entire club and say that this meeting was an absolute blast. Debate workshop prep + spiffy friendships + air conditioning, webcams + Legos + spy tactics + laughter + evil villains doing forward rolls + Presidential elections + Toni and Paul’s excellent organizational skills + and a bunch of dedicated people = ARC’s first meeting of the 2009-2010 year.

Paul starts us off

Toni supervises the organized chaos

Gotta <3 gARCies!

Christina and Avery: “Grace! Say NO!”
Marshall and William: “Say yes!”
Me: “Umm… no?”
Marshall and William: “Gaaaa!!!!”
Me: “What are you guys doing?”
Christina: “They want us to tell the muffin joke in speech games class!”
Me: “Nooooooooooooo!”

Water bottle obstacle course!

As well as all of this workshop prep, which took up most of the time, we also had presidential elections. Just because the time allotted to them was shorter, it does not mean they are less important, as we all know. ;-) Unfortunately, my camera was off during this period. The candidates were nervous enough already! :D

We had two excellent young men run for office, but Ben S. was chosen as the head of ARC for this year. I know we all wish for ARC to grow intellectually and spiritually this year, as all other years- past and future. And all of us, even the youngest student, will contribute to that growth. But Ben has one of the most challenging roles to play. Our prayers and encouragement are with you, Ben! I think ARC is in good hands. (Even if it’s going to be confusing having two presidents named Ben, one right after the other!)

Austin Rhetoric Club, you are amazing. See you next week!

It almost seems like we’ve been doing it all year, except for most of August (did we not see each other in July (Or at least not that much)?). Anyway, the meeting was fun. :P :D

  2. Alex A. says:

Wow! YSA won’t start for another two weeks! Debate camp is next week, then we’ll be up and running the following week. Fun stuff!

  3. JoyH says:

Haha! William looks so funny in the picture of the four. :D And yup, it was a blast! :D From awkward speaking games, (which were totally fun, btw,) to electing another ‘Ben’ for the ARC president, to water bottle obstacle courses, to building odd structures, it was totally fun! :D And now I can’t wait till the upcoming workshop! But, I guess I’ll just have to… *deep sigh* ;-)

You guys are awesome. Can’t wait to see y’all at tournaments!

Congratulations, Ben. Let the Lord be your leader.

The Muffin joke? (hmmmm….from the response, it sounds like one I often disappoint people with: The Pink World joke! lol. ;-D)

    See y’all soon!

There were two muffins sitting in an oven. The first muffin says, “Wow, it’s getting hot in here.” The second muffin looks over at the first muffin and says, “Aaaaah! A TALKING MUFFIN!!!!”

That is the muffin joke. Be thrilled.

  6. PaulH says:

Yeah, I’ve got a great feeling about this year. Although come to think of it, I always feel that way about every year.

Great pictures Grace, Is anyone else smelling our new ARC Photographer? Props to our new President Ben! If only we could get him to post on here…

  7. Dunvegan Highlander says:

That is an awful joke…You don’t want me to tell the Pink World joke out here-it’s way too long. And that is the point. BE RELIEVED! ;-)
It is one of the worst jokes ever-along with the Monk joke.
Aye, Paul. This is going to be an amazing year.
